This is a season of wonder, of listening and leaning in, of slowing down a bit. A time when we seek calm in the midst of chaotic calendars and a brief respite from responsibility.
We crave stillness and quiet and space.
And so, my gift to you this Advent season (and the week before Christmas) is a collection of things to read, watch, and listen to this week (or after Christmas, because, let’s be honest — this time of the year can be crazy). I hope these resources inspire you, give you a new perspective, and refresh your soul during this busy season.
(Best enjoyed with a cup of eggnog and a gingerbread cookie.)
Enjoy!

Something to Read
The Bells Ring (Erin Loechner)
“Perfect peace and goodwill — by our definition — will remain unattainable. Because what is peaceful to one does not bring good will to men. And what is peaceful to men does not bring good will to all.”
A poetic reflection on “I Heard the Bells On Christmas Day” about the hope we can cling to in seasons of unrest and turmoil, written by one of my favorite authors (see her book, Chasing Slow).
Something to Watch
10 Ways to Have a Better Conversation (Celeste Headlee)
“Enter every conversation like you have something to learn.”
Thoughtful (and humorous) insight into how we relate to one another and small ways we can begin to move toward one another again in love. Practical advice that’s applicable for conversations of all shapes and sizes.
Something to Listen to
Oprah's SuperSoul Conversation with Michelle Obama: Becoming
"My journey is the journey of always continually evolving.”
An inspiring, honest conversation between two great women about Michelle Obama’s new memoir, Becoming, her life, her values, and the things she’s learning along the way.
Now, it’s your turn: What things have you listened to, watched, or read lately that have inspired you in some way? What have you learned from others recently? I’d love to hear!
